Speak On English: Learn with Hanna’s Language Adventures

🌟 Meet Hanna: A Language Learning Journey Begins

My heart was pumping, my mind was racing. I looked at my mom for clues on how to respond to my grandma in Spanish. I didn’t even understand what she was asking me, but the pressure of not knowing made my stomach into a knot.

💡 Sparking a Passion: The Classroom Chronicles

Taking four years of Spanish lit up my spark and curiosity for the process of learning a language. With those 4 years and 4 different teachers I’ve seen their strengths and their weaknesses and I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t.

🚀 Finding My Calling Amidst Chaos

I started teaching because of the pandemic, and I didn’t think it was gonna be my passion until I realized how beautiful it is to be able to let someone gain that confidence that I wish I had during my language learning journey.

🤝 Guidance Across Borders: My Mentor's Advice

I connected with a Korean teacher from Amazing talker who became my mentor. She gave me advice saying that I should learn Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean basics so I can gain more students. I attemped the challenge but it was just way too confusing to accomplish for me. As a result, I focused on learning Mandarin while beginning my career teaching English at age 19. Confidence battles were happening as I was taking class after class feeling completely lost and frustrated while trying to learn Mandarin as fast as possible

📚 Strategies That Shine: Beyond Memorization

In teaching and and learning, I’ve collected a treasure trove of strategies that help me not memorize, but acquire the language just like we do in our first language I love the learning processes of TPR, TPRS, and comprehensible input, which all aligns with the natural approach of language learning while keeping things practical, focusing on what’s useful and what is worth learning. We need to stop wasting time learning nonsense, vocabulary, and complicated grammar rules that just don’t make sense.

🌱 The American Teacher: Express Yourself Confidently

I’m an American teacher and I give a strong emphasis on letting you express yourself confidently and naturally so you can present yourself in a way that lets you shine. Not only that, but I am a college student with 4 dogs and a full time job who knows from experience that learning language during a life with a busy schedule is a big challenge, but it is definitely doable through smart techniques, prioritizing the right skills and keeping up the excitement for the language.
